Surprise! There are no fancy names on this jury page. Or not the ones you’d expect, that is. The jury of App of the Year is …you. We’d like you to nominate your favorite app and then help us figure out if it really is the best Belgian app right now. How? Let’s take a look at how App of the Year works.
First of all, there is a real jury, it’s just not filled with the usual dignitaries sent by agencies, sponsors or the media. We admit: we did consider setting up a jury like that. But that wouldn’t be a revolutionary idea, would it? We’re not pretending that our slightly different way of going about things is all that unusual. But we’d like to at least try to make this award a bit more special.
So, how do you think you’d perform as a jury member? Because we need you. We’re looking for 10 Belgian readers of The Mobile Revolution that would like to take on the enormous responsibility of selecting the winning application. It’ll be a lot of work, but it will mostly be a lot of fun. We’ll make sure of that.
But … if your application was nominated you cannot be part of this jury. If you work for an agency or company that develops mobile apps, you can’t be part of this jury either. It would just get too complicated. We want the users to rule this jury and award, not the developers or creators of applications. If you are a Belgian freelance developer who hasn’t worked on any of the nominated apps, you are allowed to take up jury duty.
I’m not a developer and I don’t work at an agency, sign me up!
If you’re lucky, only 10 people will apply to become part of our very first jury. If more than 10 people respond, we’ll have to go through a selection process. Don’t worry, we’re not going to ask you to go onstage and sell your soul to us. Just let us know what phone you use, what your interests are, what you do for a living and what your blog and/or Twitter account are (if you have those). We’ll select a well- balanced jury including men, women (no children, though!), Apple fanatics, Android geeks, Nokia weirdos, BlackBerry crackheads and other mobile mobsters. Want to be part of our jury? Apply with this form.
Not everyone wants to sit in a real jury but we want you all to be part of this revolution. That’s why we’ll ask you to vote at our event for a separate public award. The ‘jury’ award will go to the best Belgian application according to our jury. But there will also be a ‘public’ award, which will go to the application that will get the most public votes at our App of the Year event . As soon as we have more information about our event(we’re working on it), we’ll tell you more about it!
There’s also a mystery award we might be working on. But you get guessed it right…for now, we’re denying everything and know nothing!. More information soon!
